Opening Reception in Denver
Imperfect Pixels is an interactive art exhibit that asks you to pause and remember Black lives lost and explore the impact popular media has on distorting the reality.
Please join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, June 18, 2021 7pm – 11pm
Location: RISE Collaborative Workspace (730 Colorado Boulevard STE 200 Denver, CO 80206
Artist Travis Sheridan invites you to pause and reflect upon the lost potential of their lives and acknowledge that personal flaws should not be a death sentence. These portraits offer a closer look at lost brothers and sisters in the Black community, often at the hands of police brutality, as the future leaders, doctors, politicians, fathers, friends, advocates, and teachers they were.
Buy Art | Build Capacity: Supporting Local Orgs
As part of the exhibition, at least 25% of the proceeds from the sale of any of the pieces will be donated to local organizations working to address racial equity and social justice. When a patron purchases one of the pieces (original or a fine art print), they can chose the organization to which they'd like to direct the contribution based on where they'd like to make an impact:
Black Business Initiative -- Equitable Economy
Second Chance Center -- Equitable Justice
Voices on Canvas -- Equitable Future
Highly Interactive | Highly Personal
The abstract images become clear when viewed through a glass sphere. This is meant to test perspectives, focus attention, and dwell in the moment. Additionally, those who purchase Pixel Patron Tickets (available at all Imperfect Pixel events during the life of the exhibition) will receive a single pixel to add to an interactive grid that will allow guests to construct a unique piece specifically for Imperfect Pixels Denver. Once complete, one random Pixel Patron will be selected and given this customized and unique work.
Venue Sponsor
RISE Collaborative Workspace is serving as the venue sponsor for Imperfect Pixels Denver. The work will be on exhibit from June 18 through September 17, 2021 and open to the public throughout the work week Monday-Friday 9am-5pm MST.
